Day 1
Arrival in Hohhot
Arrive in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia.
Your private guide and driver will meet you on arrival and provide a comfortable transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free, giving you time to rest or explore Hohhot independently before the adventure begins.
Day 2
Hohhot to Huitengxile Grassland — Huanghuagou, Horse Riding & Nomadic Culture
Travel approximately 2 hours from Hohhot to Huitengxile Grassland.
Huanghuagou — Yellow Flower Valley
Begin with Huanghuagou, also known as Yellow Flower Valley.
The area brings together unusual stone formations, distinctive mountain peaks, and colorful alpine meadows, revealing the varied scenery of Huitengxile.
Mongolian Cultural Performances
In the afternoon, experience several traditional Mongolian activities.
Watch local singing and dancing, followed by demonstrations of archery and wrestling, two traditions closely associated with Mongolian culture.
Horse Riding
Continue deeper into the peaceful grassland on horseback.
Riding through the hinterland provides a better sense of the vast scale of Huitengxile and allows you to enjoy its open scenery away from the main roads.
Bonfire Party & Yurt Stay
In the evening, join an ethnic-style bonfire party on the grassland.
Afterward, spend the night in a traditional Mongolian yurt, surrounded by the quiet prairie landscape.
Day 3
Huitengxile Grassland to Daqing Mountain to Hohhot
Begin the morning with the sunrise over Huitengxile Grassland before leaving the prairie behind.
Drive to Daqing Mountain
Travel approximately 2 hours to Daqing Mountain, part of the Yin Mountain Range.
These mountains form an important geographical divide between the Mongolian Plateau to the north and the Hetao Plain to the south.
Daqing Mountain Hiking
Set out on an approximately 5-hour hike.
The route passes through old birch forests before reaching higher sections of the mountain, where broad panoramic views open across the surrounding natural landscape.
After completing the hike, return to Hohhot for the night.
Day 4
Hohhot to Kubuqi Desert — Camel Ride, Sunset, Barbecue & Camping
Leave Hohhot in the morning and travel approximately 3 hours to the Kubuqi Desert at Yemingsha.
Camel Ride into the Desert Hinterland
Rather than stopping at the desert edge, ride a camel deeper into the Kubuqi hinterland.
The longer ride gives you time to experience the scale and quiet of the desert as the surrounding landscape becomes increasingly remote.
Desert Sunset
Stay in the dunes as the sun begins to drop toward the horizon.
Watch the shifting light transform the sand and create one of the most photogenic moments of the journey.
Barbecue Dinner & Desert Camping
Enjoy a barbecue dinner in the desert before spending the night at camp.
With little artificial light around you, the desert offers an ideal setting for viewing a remarkably clear and star-filled sky.
Day 5
Kubuqi Desert to Hohhot — Sunrise, Off-Road Adventure & Inner Mongolia Museum
Wake early to see the sunrise over the Kubuqi Desert.
Desert Off-Road Vehicle Experience
Afterward, travel farther into the desert hinterland, away from the more crowded areas.
Board an off-road vehicle for an approximately 30-minute desert ride, including the thrill of descending 45-degree sand dunes.
Return to Hohhot
In the afternoon, leave the desert and travel back to Hohhot.
Inner Mongolia Museum
Visit the Inner Mongolia Museum, where exhibitions provide additional insight into the region’s history, culture, natural environment, and ethnic traditions.
Day 6
Hohhot Departure
Your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to Hohhot Airport or Hohhot Railway Station according to your onward travel arrangements.
